The Sassi Hostel is a recently opened (July 2015) property. It has already had good feedback and enthusiastic reviews from our international guests that have been here.
The Hostel offers the most welcoming atmosphere in a unique and extraordinary place: it is located in the heart of the old tuff quarters of Matera, Unesco World Heritage city and European Capital of Culture 2019. Its location allows an easy walk to the main sites of historical and cultural interest. It is the ideal place to relax after a day out or to start your evening of fun: pubs, bars, cafes are in the nearby.
Our rooms new, bright and comfortable. It has free WiFi in every room, linen, lockers and free cleaning. It is designed to accommodate young travellers eager to marvel at the beauty and charm of the city and at the same time be able to live for a few days on a low budget.

Basic hostel - cheap option but if I visited again would pay a bit more for own space. Very small and run as a single large room. Generally tidy but black mould through the shower was off putting. Couldn’t get ahold of staff to check in slightly early during a downpour of rain. Otherwise does why it says, full kitchen, enough bathrooms. Good spot.

I had bedbugs in my bed. Electrical outlet near my bed didnt work. I sent email when I will come and noone was there. Exhually that can be much better,

Don't stay here. Bed bugs are present...the atmosphere is non-existent as it's mainly 40-50 year old people in the dorms. The place smelt, lockers weren't very secure, floors dirty. Overall the hostel didn't look like it should be open anymore.
