Hostel Charruas

This is a cool, social hostel that still manages to be quiet enough for sleeping (which can be hard to find)! Staff were very helpful and public spaces are kept very clean. The garden is fantastic too! We really liked the location: close to great restaurants, bars, a nice park, and even the beach, and convenient to the bus station. The double rooms are tucked into kind of a weird little corner, accessible by ladder, but the air conditioning kept it from being too claustrophobic.

An old building with high ceilings, lots of wood & plaster mouldings, funky modern paint job, a very spacious patio & good wi-fi indoors. Excellent staff, friendly & helpful. Room to improve are: tiny men's WCs where the floors are always wet, a shower that starts well & is cold after 4 mins., almost no room left in the 2 big fridges for your food & if you're sensitive to noise the rooms near the kitchen are noisy as people like to gather there to chat. Great social atmosphere. I WOULD return!
