Gagarin House is an economy class guest house arranged in the modern concept of a capsule hotel. We, the team of Gagarin House, truly admire our place and want to share our best feelings with all of our guests.

5-star location! Gagarin House is located in Grackamahala (the Greek Area), the oldest part of modern Varna. In Grackamahala are the buildings of the Bulgarian maritime fleet, the Bulgarian Navy, the District Police Department - Varna, the Museum of Medicine, the church St. Bogoroditsa - known for its miraculous icon, St. Athanasiy Church, the Armenian church, a swimming complex, The Naval Museum, the Aquarium, the Planetarium, a post office, banks, offices of mobile operators, shops, pharmacies, cafes and restaurants, hotels, parking lots, specialized stores for yacht equipment etc.Our guest house is located near EkzarhYosif Square on Mihail Koloni street which leads to the Seaside Park – the main beach area of the Old City.
The concept is very rational. The first three things in mind of a general traveler are (in this particular order): 1. reasonable price; 2. comfort; 3. service. A capsule hotel provides you the basic minimum for the minimal price in a simple manner.

The hostel is fine for staying 1 or 2 nights, but there is not really a lot of common space (there is a garden, but it´ s useless when it rains).
The capsula style is nice, but the room is rather for 16 people than 8, because there are 2 rooms joined together.
For the price it´ s good, but it´ s not place for meeting with other travellers. There are probably mostly staying also locals/workers and people who care only about the price.

My favourite hostel so far. And I travel A LOT. It is my favourite hostel because for some unknown, misterious reason the atmosphere of this place is simply magical. I booked the hostel for only one night but ended up extending it at the end I was there for over a week. Made real good friends there and thanks to Gagarin I now have some amazing memories and some good stories to tell. The only thing that could be improved, though, are the bathrooms. They are kinda weird hahaha. But still love it!

In my nine years of constant travel, I have only experienced a few hostels/guesthouses as good as here. I was made to feel like family. I was at the end of the valley, after the church and tower, so I overlooked the entire valley. The river was just off to the side. The meals were family meals. What more could a person ask for?
The transport was from the gate of my hostel in Shkoder to the front porch of the guesthouse. What a life!
I definitely plan to return for a few days or so.
