Here at Sequoia Lodge we welcome travellers and families of all ages and pride ourselves on our relaxed atmosphere. Offering free chocolate pudding and ice cream served every night of the year and breakfast and hot soup in the winter. Our staff are genuine, super friendly and we aim to make everyone feel at home.
The spa pool is bubbling hot, the fire is roaring, it’s cosy and warm. Make use of our free shuttle service, help yourself to tea and coffee, enjoy a game of giant chess or chill out with Netflix in the movie room. Our kitchen is well equipped, including herbs, spices and cooking oil – all for free!
Sequoia Lodge is the perfect place to explore the world famous Marlborough Sounds or walk the Queen Charlotte Track. Our fantastic staff are full of local area knowledge and can book tours, make great suggestions suited to you and arrange onward travel all at your convenience.

Everything was good but the manager was just upright rude i had made a booking online paid for the deposit and was told when I rang to double check right before check in that those times didn't suit so I suggested a time that suits them and he right out told me u do not get to choose the times and to cancel and take it up with hostel world. Was very dangerous as I had just done a 12 hour drive with 5 kids to get there to rest and be told that 5 minutes before original check in

The one guy I saw working there seemed friendly. There were some comfy couches in the common room which I appreciated. The location is ok, about a 10 minute walk from the main drag. It was pretty dead when I was there, which I found surprising as it was a long weekend. It seems like it’s set up more as a motel than a hostel, with lots of private rooms, so there wasn’t a very social vibe. There were some interesting rules posted, like that you can’t hang out past 10am when you check out.
