Rope Walk Guest House is a heritage pre-war mansion located in the middle of Georgetown. 5~10mins walking distance to all UNESCO sites, street arts, cafes, food courts, night market, main bus terminal to/from airport as well as the Ferry terminal to/from Langkawi and Butterworth.
The building was re-renovated in May '17 to enhance the facilities such as additional common toilet and bathrooms, laundry place, common seating area and moon lit air-wells. Much effort has been made to green the property with plants.
With the extension of our dormitorio and cafe, we truly hope that the concept will add value to the services our travelers are paying for. A small selected crew will assist and make your stay with us as homely and lengthy as possible. Our doors are open to any adventurous and hip traveler seeking a pleasant stay in Georgetown, Penang.

The location was very convenient for a visa run because it is very near bus stop to go Thailand. Plus the Chulia street is 5/8 min walks.
But the rooms are sooo dirty, as the commun shower , curtain, sheets , blankets, wAlls…
We had to ask to clean again the familial room after check in because it was hairs everywhere, in the floor, table, sinks + a used candy near the bed … The bonus was the window without glass lol. The room was on ground floor so we heard everything like it was inside

The pictures are very, very outdated. The toilets and showers don’t look like they’ve been cleaned since it opened. I booked for 3 nights but left after 1 as I felt too uncomfortable with the people in my room.

Really pretty hostel, lovely staff, really social and good social areas, great location as well would def recommend
