The biggest downside about this hostel is that it's in Greymouth. Would recommend for a night in between driving up/bus journeys.

I love the vibe throughout the hostel. It carried a rustic and charming look to it. The room was really hot over night and smelled like urine. The bedroom doors don’t lock when you close them, unless you play with the lock for a few minutes (or use your room key). There were several times where my roommate left the door open and unlocked after I locked it, which made me uncomfortable with there not being a locker for my valuables.
The shower smelled like sewer when I was using the water.

One of the cleanest and most well kept hostels I have encountered in NZ! The shared facilities were all kept perfectly clean, the rooms are very nice and spacious and there is a nice vibe to the hostel. The only downside is that it is a slight walk out of town, but the owners will come and pick you up from the station, great service!
